Mình 18 tuổi. Dễ hiểu là đang đứng trước rất nhiều quyết định quan trọng của cuộc đời. Một trong số đó có thể thay đổi mình mãi mãi, theo hướng không đoán định được. Tự nhiên nhận ra mình đã cân nhắc quá nhiều, hòng tìm ra lựa chọn tối ưu nhất. Để rồi mãi đến gần đây, mới nhận ra một sự thật (có vẻ hiển nhiên).
Mình nhìn lại cái timeline của đời mình và bắt đầu đặt câu hỏi theo đúng công thức “Nếu không ABC-XYZ thì giờ mình ra sao?”
Nếu chị hai không cố gắng thuyết phục ba má mua PC vào năm 2001 (thừa nhận là một nỗ lực khó khăn) thì giờ mình có coi PC là tuyệt-đối-không-thể-thiếu không?
Nếu mình không tò mò install PhotoImpact và ngồi hì hụi chế biến mấy cái wallpaper Final Fantasy thì giờ mình có thích business thay vì design không?
Nếu mình không biết đến mấy cái disc Lê Hoàn/Phạm Hồng Phước, không biết đến HTML vào cái thuở “sơ khai” ấy, thì giờ mình có tẹo hứng thú nào với web designing/developing không?
Nếu mình không đọc Naruto, không hì hụi dịch D.Gray-man, không lao vào cày bừa manga cả một thời gian dài, thì tiếng Anh của mình có quá chênh lệch so với bây giờ không?
Nếu mình không biết đến Lasalle, không mơ tưởng về một nơi nào khác ngoài cánh cổng ĐH VN và ngoan ngoãn nộp hồ sơ thi ĐH, thì giờ mình có ngồi trong một giảng đường nào đó mà luyện Triết không?
Nếu mình không thay đổi chỗ ở, không gặp chị Oanh cậu Tâm, không gặp cô Chi thầy Cường, không bỏ ACET đột ngột, thì giờ IELTS liệu có đủ mà nộp hồ sơ đầu năm sau?
Nếu.
Mình ngỡ ngàng nhận ra cuộc đời đơn giản là một chuỗi các liên kết ngắn. Rẽ hướng ở liên kết này có thể dẫn đến một nhánh hoàn toàn khác. Điểm cốt yếu là không bao giờ ta biết mình sẽ nhận được những gì. Không thể thay đổi, không thể quay đầu, không thể hối tiếc hay ước ao làm lại, lựa chọn duy nhất là bước tiếp. Phải tuyệt đối tin tưởng, phải tuyệt đối cố gắng.
